Contactless debit cards

Contactless cards are here!

They’re the latest and fastest way to pay at the register. With a Central Bank contactless debit card, you have the option to pay by holding or tapping your card over a contactless-enabled terminal, or by inserting or swiping your card to make a payment.

To check if your Central Bank debit card is contactless, look for the contactless symbol on the front of the card. Your name and their card number will appear on the back of the contactless card.

How do I use my contactless debit card?

  1. Look for the contactless symbol at checkout.
  2. When prompted, hold your card within one to two inches of the contactless symbol. Some merchants may ask you to enter your Personal Identification Number (PIN) or sign for debit card transactions.
  3. If your purchase is approved, you’ll receive confirmation—typically a beep, green light or check mark.

If a contactless terminal isn’t available, just insert or swipe your card to make a payment.

Tap to pay for a fast and secure checkout!

Fast.

Check out is fast! The process quicker than inserting or swiping a chip card, and way faster than using cash.

Secure.

Contactless transactions are a lot like chip card transactions. Each contactless transaction creates a unique, single-use code. The code can’t be used again and it can be read only by the card-processing network. This is more secure than a magnetic stripe because data from “magstripes” can be easily captured and duplicated.
